Champions of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will won a sum of N100 million as prize money.
Chairman, Interim Management Committee (IMC), Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, disclosed this on Tuesday during a media parley held at GTI Building, Lagos.
Elegbeleye, a former Director-General of the defunct Nationl Sports Commission (NSC) said that the idea behind the monetary reward was to encourage every team in the league.
He though did not disclose the prize money for the first and runners ups but hinted that they will also take home something tangible.
Elegbeleye who hailed IMC’s partner, GNI for believing in the project stated that there will be awards for best player, best club, and best reporter, among other awards at the end of the season.
“All of these we are planning and we can assure that it will be actualised. When we came on board, we said that each club will get take off grant and GTI provided N200million to that effect.
“So, each team in the Premier League received N10million as take off grant before the league kicked off, and I am saying it again here that the winners of the NPFL league this season will take home N100million,” he said.
