Man, named Folayemi Olasunkanmi Johnson, from Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, has escaped death during the recent Yoruba agitation led by the popular human rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, due to alleged marginalisation of the Yoruba race.
Recall that the current situation of the country had led to the agitation and clamour for Oduduwa Nation headed by Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly called (Igboho). The killings of the Yoruba people in Igangan, a remote area in Oyo State, had instigated Sunday Igboho to flare up and gave a 7 day ultimatum to the Fulani tribe alleged to be carrying out awkward dealings in that particular area.
More so, the agitation for Yoruba Nation was in order to have independence and liberty, which was expressed done in rallies in different Southwestern states. During the rally in Osun State, the group clamouring for Yoruba nation. The fear that heavy military security would be present had made people run for safety, not knowing what could happen among the angry agitators.
It was, however, learnt that Folayemi, who was part of the agitators for the emancipation of the Yoruba people, was among those who ran to another state in the Southwest. It was gathered that he ran specifically to Ondo State where he spent a week before some unknown gunmen invaded the state again.
A source, who claimed anonymity, said he then escaped to Oyo State “where our leader, (Chief Sunday Adeyemo) a.k.a Igboho resides for safety.”
The source added that he was there for about three weeks before the brother of Chief Sunday Igboho told him on May 25, 2021 to leave that there was suspicion that the leader of the Yoruba’s house may be attacked.
Meanwhile an attack was truly launched on Sunday Igboho’s house on July 1st, 2021, at midnight where some of his men were shot, many were arrested and a few ran for their life. It was at this point that the source said Folayemi escaped to Badagry, a boundary between Nigeria and Benin Republic, where he hid himself from being killed.
“He narrowly escaped to Badagry at Seme border for a while and I think he must have found his way to another part of the world,” the source said.
