The United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Joy Basu, has requested for a stronger trade bond between the US and Nigeria.
Joy Basu who recently paid a three-day courtesy visit to Nigeria during which improvements in business environment and trade ties were discussed.
Basu stated that the US is banking on the rich connection between Nigeria and the States to join hands in creating solutions to economic challenges.
Basu said, “We are building upon the rich connections that exist between our countries – our companies, our entrepreneurs, and our people – to co-create solutions to our common challenges. We look forward to working together to discover and deliver better ways forward, not only for the people of Nigeria and America but also for communities around the world.”
Joy Basu who chairs Economic and Regional Affairs in the Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs, met with Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Ali Pate and heads of other public and private sectors.
She noted that the US government has intention to transfer its investment into Nigeria. She added that the investment structure needs transparency, trustworthy and conducive climate.
