On Monday, the governor announced that a Ukrainian drone attack targeted vehicles transporting workers in Russia’s frontier Belgorod region, resulting in the death of six individuals and injuring 35 others.
Belgorod has experienced a surge in deadly Ukrainian drone and missile strikes in recent months, with Monday’s assault marking the deadliest incident in weeks.
Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that six individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the explosion, while an additional 35 were wounded near the village of Berezyovka.
Gladkov disclosed that the attack targeted two vans transporting workers from a nearby factory, along with a passenger vehicle, reportedly affiliated with a meat production facility.
Among the wounded were two children, and one individual was described as being in serious condition and undergoing surgery.
An image shared by Gladkov depicted a bus with blown-out windows and a damaged roof, illustrating the severity of the attack.
