Ukraine has reduced Russia’s attacking potential by destroying numerous centres. Ukraine’s defence ministry spokesperson says that these recent attacks have destroyed more than 30 of them.
Many types of Western weapons are used in fighting back against the Russians. One specific type- HIMARS- is made in the US and has been used against Russia.
“30 of the enemy’s military logistical facilities have been destroyed, as a result of which the attacking potential of Russian forces has been significantly reduced.”
Russia captured a chunk of territory in southern Ukraine, and eventually captured the Luhansk region. It used artillery supremacy to make gradual territorial gains.
A Ukrainian general stated that the Russians had not taken any land in the last week and that the Ukrainians have disrupted Russian supply lines, which has led Moscow to keep their ammunition further back from the front line.
Newer weapons, including the HIMARS, gives Ukraine the upper hand in combat as they have a longer range and provide more precision.
Ukraine has received their first shipment of M270 strategic missiles from an unnamed country.
Russia has criticised the United States and the United Kingdom for their joint training exercises in Ukraine. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said this is again a part of NATO’s hybrid warfare against Moscow.
Moscow says Washington is also providing Ukraine with instructors to help use HIMARS.
