Head coach of the Flying Eagles, Ladan Bosso, has said that his boys will use the same method which earned them victory over Argentina in the round of 16 of the 23rd FIFA U20 World Cup against next opponents.
Nigeria, two-time World Cup finalists outclassed the Los Cebollitas 2-0 on Wednesday night at the magnificent San Juan del Bicentenario Stadium to qualify for the quarterfinal of Argentina 2023.
Bosso’s side will face either South Korea or Ecuador on Sunday at 6:30 pm Nigerian time.
“Losing at the quarter-final stage is as good as not qualifying, the way we approach this game [against Argentina] is the same way we will approach the quarter-final,” Bosso said in a post-match interview.
The 55-year-old tactician was philosophical after the fall of the World Cup hosts on Wednesday night.
“We need to appreciate what God has done for us, equally with what we have seen so far in terms of organisation, I think FIFA is doing a very good job. As far as I’m concerned and with all the results I have seen so far, these are all expected end. Beating Argentina is not a new thing. The most important thing is the mindset of players,” the man who coached the Flying Eagles to reach the quarterfinal at the 2007 World Cup said.
Meanwhile, after a goalless situation, Ibrahim Beji Mohammad shot the Flying Eagles ahead in the 61st minute at the San Juan Stadium while Rilwanu Sarki’s header off a cross from 79th minute substitute, Victor Eletu sealed the victory over the hosts during stoppage time.
