Former President Trump has warned that if he does not win the November election, it could lead to major conflicts in the Middle East and possibly a “third world war”.
Trump made these remarks after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago estate, just one day following Netanyahu’s meeting at the White House with President Biden and Vice President Harris.
At the start of the meeting, Trump assured reporters, “If we win, it’ll be very simple. It’s all going to work out and very quickly.”
He added, “If we don’t, you’re going to end up with major wars in the Middle East and maybe a third world war. You are closer to a third world war right now than at any time since the second world war. You’ve never been so close, because we have incompetent people running our country.”
Trump has previously suggested that the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are pushing the world toward another world war.
He has also warned of economic repercussions, such as a potential stock market crash, if he does not reclaim the White House.
Trump’s meeting with Netanyahu comes amidst significant shifts in the presidential race. President Biden announced on Sunday that he will not seek reelection and endorsed Vice President Harris as the Democratic nominee.
Harris, who has quickly garnered support from within the party, is expected to be the Democratic candidate in November. She had a separate meeting with Netanyahu on Thursday, describing it as “frank and constructive” and expressing concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza while affirming Israel’s right to defend itself.
Trump, despite his earlier criticisms of Netanyahu following the recent attacks on Israel and the subsequent conflict in Gaza, emphasized his strong support for Israel, pointing to his administration’s actions like moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal.
He claimed, “We’ve had a good relationship. I was very good to Israel, better than any president’s ever been.”
Regarding the ongoing hostage situation, Trump criticized the current administration’s handling and stressed that the hostages should be released immediately, expressing doubt about their well-being.
