Tragedy struck as an househelp simply identified as Peter stabbed his employer to death seven days after resuming work in Lagos, Nigeria.
According to reports, the lifeless body of the woman was discovered Saturday, March 9, 2024, at her 29, Kiniun-Ifa Street, Sawmill apartment, Gbagada area of Lagos, by her son who came to visit.
The deceased was reported to be the sole occupant of the building, which also housed three shops in front.
According to a resident who preferred anonymity, the woman’s son discovered her lifeless body upon his arrival at the compound. Her body was found on the staircase, with blood covering the area.
Furthermore, a long piece of wood, believed to be the murder weapon, was discovered at the scene. The state of the body, showing signs of swelling, indicated that the woman may have been killed days earlier.
It was also gathered that the fleeing househelp resumed work a week before the tragedy occurred.
A relative of the agent that brought the fleeing househelp had been arrested, as the unidentified agent was nowhere to be found.
Police officers at the Ifako Police Division were said to have visited the scene and evacuated the corpse.
Meanwhile, when the Lagos State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, was contacted, he stated that the househelp had been arrested.
Hundeyin added that the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCIID, Panti.
