Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems had revealed that she received death threats over rumoured pregnancy for American rapper Future.
Recall that in September, Tems sparked pregnancy rumours after she was spotted at Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 London Fashion Week show.
She had worn a black dress with a purple fluffy coat and matching heels, and many thought that the way the dress was clinging to her body suggested that she was pregnant.
Speaking in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, the Oscar-nominated diva said she received social media DMs questioning the choice of American rapper Future, who was allegedly responsible for her supposed pregnancy.
The Oscar-nominated singer also stated that some questioned her decision to allow Future to “allegedly impregnate” her.
Tems claimed she had never met the rapper.
“When I heard that I was pregnant, I did not actually think anybody believed it,” she said.
“I did not know it was serious until I started getting messages like death threats.
Tems also disclosed during the interview that she “would like to direct a video for Asake”.
She said: “I love him. I can tell that he is very artistic.”
She explained that her likeness for the YBNL star is “just for work, just to direct his [music] video”.
Tems rose to international prominence in 2020 as a result of her collaboration with Wizkid on the song “Essence.” The singer received her first Grammy trophy in February.
The singer bagged the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her role in ‘Wait for U’. TIME magazine recently named her one of the top 100 people to watch in 2023.
