South Africa mourns the tragic loss of actor Mpho Seben, who passed away in a car accident in Potchefstroom, North West province, as confirmed by his family on Sunday.

The 30-year-old actor’s family has requested privacy as they come to terms with this devastating news.

Sebeng, a respected figure in South Africa’s entertainment scene, enjoyed a career spanning nearly two decades, marked by outstanding performances and accolades.

He embarked on his acting journey at the age of 12, quickly rising to prominence in television.

Notable highlights of his career include roles in acclaimed TV dramas like “Justice For All” and “Zero Tolerance,” both of which garnered widespread acclaim and numerous awards.

He also appeared in the 2011 film “Winnie,” depicting the life of the late Winnie Mandela, during his high school years.

Sebeng’s talent earned him a nomination for Best Male Actor in a telenovela at the 2018 South African Film and Television Awards.

He also made his mark on international platforms, featuring in Netflix productions such as “Savage Beauty” and “Miseducation”.

The passing of Sebeng has deeply saddened his colleagues and fans, with actor Zola Hashatsi expressing his grief and paying tribute to Sebeng as a cherished friend and colleague.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and Netflix South Africa have also extended their condolences, acknowledging Sebeng’s significant contributions to the entertainment industry and honoring his legacy.
