A famous Transwoman, popularly known as ‘Abuja Area Mama,’ has been found dead in the Banex, Wuse II area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria.

The Transwoman’s brutalised body was found lying along the Katampe Mabuchi expressway in the FCT in the early hours of today, August 8, 2024.

He was wearing the same dress he had on hours earlier when he posted a video from his outing on TikTok.

The dress had been ripped open to expose his n@k£d body. His face, which appears to have been bashed in with an object, had turned purple. His blood stained the grass beside his body.

His purse was left open beside his body, alongside some personal items scattered at the scene.

The gory video and photos from the scene elicited reactions from Nigerians, especially members of the LGBTQ community.

They reacted with outrage, with some pointing out that this is not the first time Area Mama has been attacked for his sexual orientation, yet nothing was done to protect him after he spoke out about the attack.

Others pointed out that homophobes regularly threatened online to k!ll him but nothing was done.

Some members of the LGBTQ community called for the community to start k!lling their potential m¥rd£rers to avoid ending up like Area Mama.

Gift Adene, An X user posting as @giftadene_ said, “Nigerians will cry out and cuss out the police for brutality, they’ll call the government out, but it is same Nigerians that kílléd Abuja Area mama!

‘God forbid. Why kíll someone because of their way of life? Aren’t you now worse than them?”

Another user Ndi Kato with username @YarKafanchan wrote, “Waking up to the news that cross dresser, Abuja Area Mama was murdered today. This is so sad. He suffered so badly. Always attacked. Sometimes with machete but he fought back and always detailed these attacks. May he rest in peace.”

@SavvyRinu said, “This is so cowardly. Where are her killers now? Happy with themselves? Those of you in these comments? Happy with yourselves? Another human was recklessly killed and you make jokes. Each day, one of us is kïlled for what somebody else doesn’t like, until it gets to your turn.”

Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, confirmed the discovery of the lifeless body in a statement, and said the Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Police spokesperson explained that operatives of the Command, who responded to a distress call from the area, immediately took the man to Maitama District Hospital where doctors on duty confirmed him dead.

She said updates on the matter will be communicated in due course.
