The Edo State Police Command has paraded a 16-year-old boy for allegedly defiling a two-year-old minor in Edo State.
The incident happened on June 7 according to the state police command.
Parading the suspect, Spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect committed the offence in Egba community, Uhunwonde Local Government Area of the state.
Nwabuzor disclosed that the police received a report that the suspect defiled a two-year-old baby in the community, and promptly arrested the suspect.
The command’s spokesperson said that an investigation into the matter was ongoing under the Gender Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department.
He added that as soon as the investigation was completed, the suspect would be charged to court.
Responding to questions from newsmen, the suspect said he didn’t know what came over him.
The suspect said: “The two-year-old always comes to my sister. She came on this day, and I told her to go back home that my sister was not around, but she refused to go.
“So, I then carry her and put her on the bed and pull her knickers halfway down. But I did not defile her. I only put my penis in-between her lap.
“I didn’t know what came over me because I hadn’t done it before,” he said.
