Following a distress call from the Ishieke Police Station, operatives from the state police command headquarters in Abakaliki, accompanied by soldiers, swiftly mobilized.

A source speaking to Daily Trust on the incident recounted, “The gunmen arrived at Ishieke Police Station and opened fire. The police responded, and the exchange lasted about 30 minutes before other security operatives arrived for reinforcement.

“Additional security operatives, including soldiers, arrived in numbers to apprehend the hoodlums.

“The hoodlums attempted to escape, firing sporadically as they moved towards Odomoke Ishieke market along Nwiboko Obodo road in Ebonyi Council Area, where they met their end in the hands of the advancing team.”

Reports indicated that the Sienna bus used by the gunmen and their corpses had been transported to the state police headquarters.
