Law enforcement also successfully recovered a stolen vehicle, a lorry, from one of the incidents.
The suspects had assaulted and robbed a driver.
In a coordinated effort, the police, with assistance from teams in Nairobi and Nakuru, arrested two additional accomplices who were driving a Mitsubishi truck (FH) associated with the case reported at Naivasha Police Station on Valentine’s Day.
Upon interrogation, detectives discovered that the two suspects were en route to meet the other two suspected accomplices in Njoro town, Nakuru County.
An ambush was set up when the targeted suspects arrived at the meeting location in their vehicle.
With all four suspects in custody, it was determined that the truck had been stolen in Gilgil at the Elementaita area.
The hired driver had been abducted, assaulted, and left tied up at a construction site in the Punda Milia section on Friday.
During the incident, the 38-year-old driver was robbed of Sh55,000 and his mobile phone by a gang of six individuals, who disabled the lorry tracker before fleeing.
The victim was promptly taken to Gilgil Sub-County Hospital for medical treatment.
The recovered vehicle has been towed and impounded at Njoro Police Station, where the suspects are also being held pending further police action.
Police are actively searching for additional suspects involved in the incident. The apprehended suspects will face serious charges, including sodomy, according to authorities.
Attacks of this nature are frequent along the Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret highway, where criminals target drivers and steal lorries and their cargo.
A specialized unit has been established to pursue the criminal gang, with past incidents successfully resolved through the arrest of suspects. Statistics indicate that some suspects steal valuables and abandon the lorries along roadsides.
