According to La Repubblica, the bann was announced by the anti-doping prosecutor’s office in Italy on Thursday
Pogba had failed a doping test on August 20, 2023, after the opening Serie A game of the season between Juventus and Udinese, which he had entirely spent on the bench.
DHEA, a substance known to elevate testosterone levels, was discovered in Pogba’s system, with a second sample also testing positive in October.
As a precautionary measure, Pogba was suspended in September 2023, and he has not trained with his Juventus teammates since then. Additionally, his salary was reduced to approximately €2,400 per month, by the collective agreement between clubs and the footballer’s association.
Despite being a member of the 2018 France World Cup-winning team, Pogba’s return to Juventus on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2022 has been marred by limited playing time, making just 12 appearances across all competitions during his second stint at the Allianz Stadium.
Serious questions are arising regarding Pogba’s future. The ex-Manchester United star is under contract with Turin until 2025. However, there’s speculation that this contract may be terminated. Pogba intends to contest his sanction by appealing the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
