Nurse slumps on duty, dies in Zamfara

Asmau Lawali Bungudu, a staff nurse with Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, Zamfara State, reportedly died on on duty, Wednesday.

The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Anwal Usman, confirmed the incident.

According to the hospital’s public relations officer, the deceased had earlier complained to a doctor about an alleged cardiac issue before she suddenly slumped.

The public relations officer said the late nurse checked the blood pressure of about 30 patients at the NHIS clinic before the incident happened.

“The medical doctors attempted to save her life, but they couldn’t as she died instantly,” the PRO said.

According to Anwal, the management team of the hospital, led by the Medical Director, Dr Usman Muhammad Shanawa, had handed over the body to the relatives of the deceased nurse.

One of the deceased family said the late nurse did not show any signs of ill-health when she left home for work that day.

“Funeral prayers for the deceased will be held tomorrow (Thursday), at 5:pm at Malam Abdurrahaman’s house, Magama area, Bungudu,” the deceased relative said.
