Twenty-two terrorists have been eliminated by the Nigerian Airforce in Katsina.
The terrorists were killed by airforce personnel during an air raid.
NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, reportedly confirmed the attack, which a military source said, was based on Intelligence Report received by the troops.
Gabkwet disclosed that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubukar, on assumption of office, had directed all air component commanders to collaborate with other security agencies to launch onslaught on the terrorists’ hideouts.
The casualties in the NAF’s air operation comprised the foot soldiers of terrorists’ chief, Abdulkareen Lawal, widely known as Abdulkareen Boss.
Abdulkareen was reportedly behind the alleged killing of an Area Commander of the Nigeria Police in Dutsin Ma on July 5, 2022.
Reports also confirmed that Abdulkareen Boss and some of his foot soldiers on August 5, 2022, were killed by airstrikes in the Ruga forest in Katsina.
“The strikes were executed following credible intelligence reports that the terrorists were responsible for several abductions and violent attacks on some communities within Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a military source, “Over 22 terrorists made up of foot soldiers of the deceased notorious terrorist kingpin Abdulkareen Lawal, aka Abdulkareen Boss, were on Monday, July 17, 2023 neutralised by air strikes conducted by the Air Commodore of Operation, Hadarin Daji at Batsari and Sola Poi 11 Batsari and Jibia local government areas of Katsina State.”
