Paul Pogba has vowed to show Manchester United they made a mistake by failing to extend his contract.
The 29-year-old midfielder will end a lacklustre six-season spell at Old Trafford once his contract expires at the end of the month. He is expected to re-join Juventus on a free transfer.
“My thought process is to show Manchester [United] that they made a mistake in waiting to give me a contract,” Pogba said in his Amazon Prime documentary named ‘The Pogmentary’.
“And to show other clubs that Manchester had made a mistake in not offering me a contract.”
The ‘nothing’ offer
Pogba also responded to his late agent Mino Raiola’s revelation of Manchester United’s second offer last July, describing the proposal as ‘nothing’.
The Red Devils made the Frenchman at least two offers to extend his contract at the club. According to various reports, he could’ve exceeded his £290,000-a-week salary had he stayed.
“How can you tell a player you absolutely want him and offer him nothing?” Pogba said. “Never seen that.”
As for Pogba’s struggles to replicate his performances with the French national team for his club, Raiola suggested something was ‘blocking him from doing so.
“We must try to make you feel as good as when you are with the French national team,” said the agent. “You’re different from them. Do you understand? You’re another Pogba with the Manchester United team. It’s not normal.
“With the France team, you’re the real Pogba, the Pogba of Juventus, the Pogba that everyone loves. With Manchester, there’s something blocking you.”
