Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, has disclosed their readiness to qualify for the 2023 World Cup Schedule to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
BARCELONA Femeni star said the target of Super Falcons at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON), is to win it and qualify for World Cup.
Nigeria faces South Africa at the Prince Heritier Moulay Hassan Stadium, Rabat on July 4 in their group opener, while the Randy Waldrum side will tackle Botswana on July 7 and Burundi on July 10 to complete the group games.
Oshoala, in a short video chat via the Super Falcons Twitter handle downplayed the pressure that many Nigerians could impose on the team by expecting the title back in Nigeria at all cost.
“I think the most important thing is to make sure we get the ticket to the World Cup, that’s the primary aim to qualify for the World Cup.
“And then to possibly win the tournament. It’s one of the goals we have going into this tournament as a team.
“Personally as an individual I just want to do better than the last tournament,” the four-time African Footballer of the Year with three AWCON titles [2014, 2016 and 2018] under his belt said.
All the semi-finalists at Morocco 2022 will automatically represent Africa in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
