Belgian Kevin De Bruyne is optimistic that his side, Manchester City can retain the Premier League title this season.
Speaking after the Citizens defeated Bournemouth 4-0 to make it successive victories to open their Premier League title defence.
City cruised into a 3-0 half-time lead over newly-promoted Bournemouth thanks to goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, with Erling Haaland notching his first assist for the Blues in the opener.
The 30-year-old said “Obviously the circumstances are hard, it’s so hot, the pitch wasn’t great which makes it all the more difficult,” De Bruyne said. “But leading 3-0 fairly quickly in the half makes it easy and even in the second half they were defending so deep.
“We didn’t give too much away but I think we can still go up a level.”
It will be recalled that City retained the Premier League title in the most dramatic way last season after scoring three goals in the final 15 minutes against Aston Villa.
