Men of the Ondo State Police command have arrested a 43-year-old farmer, Francis Joseph, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old daughter of his friend.
Joseph, who hails from Ogoja, Cross River State, with the father of the young girl, and stayed within the same community in Lugbogi area in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, was said to have lured the girl into his house and raped her
It was gathered that Joseph, who is married to four women and has nine children, warned the girl after having carnal knowledge of her not to tell anybody about the incident or else, she would die mysteriously.
A family source explained that the girl started bleeding in the middle of the night and was rushed to the hospital.
The source said “the 12-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital bleeding from the private part, she is still in the hospital till now.
“Her parent reported the incident at the Enuowa police station but Joseph had left his home before the arrival of the policemen.”
The suspect told newsmen that the people of the community lied against him, but failed to explain the reasons for running away from the community.
The young girl however insisted that her father’s friend was responsible for the rape, saying he had carnal knowledge of her in his house and warned her not to inform anybody.
