Bishop Aladekugbe has said life become so unbearable in Nigeria under President Mohammadu Buhari and there is a need to put things right before it is too late.
Bishop Aladekugbe disclosed this while delivering his first session of the seventh synod of the diocese in Oyo state. He also faulted President Mohammadu Buhari for the state of the nation saying the last 7 years of the President’s rule Nigerians have witnessed incompetence and unbridled corruption.
He disclosed that life has become so unbearable in Nigeria under President Buhari that more than 82.9 million Nigerians are no longer able to afford their daily meals and other necessities of life, with the nation now ranking as the poverty capital of the world and 98′ out of 107 Global Hunger index.
He also disclosed that the Industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASU) has become a recurring decimal he appealed to the government to come alive to its responsibility and give urgent attention to the crucial matter.
He said “The year for the general Elections is almost here and politicians aspiring to different positions and offices are already making their intentions known to the electorate promising to change a failed Nation to an egalitarian society, but without telling us the modal auxiliaries to be employed.
“Our call is to the citizens of Nigeria home and abroad to pray, but at the same time “shine” their eyes, as they are actively involved in the work that will lead to peaceful electioneering in the year 2023.
“We pray the government to steer clear in the affairs of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) and let the commission perform its duty without interference, the concern of the government should be how to provide a level playing ground for all the Parties and the Electorate.
We appeal to all Christians to fully participate in all the electoral processes not leaving it to others on the claim that “politics is a dirty game” Ponder the following statement: One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.
“The Government of President Buhari in the last seven years succeeded in destroying every sector of our national life with his manifest incompetence, unbridled corruption, treasury looting, impurity, exclusionist and restrictive economic policies that have brought our nation to her knees Nigerians can recall that the government of President Goodluck Jonathan handed over a better economy, Nigeria was rated the largest investment hubs in Africa and one of the fastest-growing in the world with Fitch B+ rating and Gross Domestic Produce (GDP) of $574billion to President Buhari in May 2015.
“Sadly, in the last seven years, the Buhari-led administration has reduced our productive sectors to complete wreckage with alarming 33.3 per cent unemployment and 17.38 per cent inflation rates; over 60 million hitherto flourishing businesses folded up and the naira crashing from N167 to a dollar in 2015 to almost N600 under President Buhari.
“More depressing is that the administration has practically erased all the gains of the debt repayment achieved before returned our nation to a beggar state, and mortgaged the sovereignty of our country with reckless borrowing and accumulated N33.107 trillion.
