A High Court sitting in Kaduna, Kaduna State, presided over by Justice A. A. Bello has convicted one Joshua Audu on a one-count charge of love scam.
The Kaduna Command of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured the conviction of Joshua before the court.
The EFCC made this disclosure on its website, according to the Punch.
The commission said that Joshua was nabbed in a hotel at Narayi Barnawa by the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, following alleged involvement in cybercrime.
Joshua was alleged to have used the social media platform, Google Chat to hoodwink his victims after he had professed love to them. and defrauded them of unnamed amount of money as well as received gift cards through such criminal act.
Upon arrangement in the court, Joshua pleaded guilty to criminal act, and the court convicted and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment, with an option of N150,000 fine.
Joshua would forfeit his Redmi 7 and iphone 11 mobile devices for pleading guilty to the criminal act.
