An Abuja-based journalist on Saturday took to her social media to announce her resignation from her television station to fully throw her support behind Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi ahead of the forthcoming 2023 elections.
According to her, journalism frowns at the partisan public as she is supposed to be free and unbiased toward her profession.
She, therefore, has chosen to resign her responsibilities in her media station to fully support the ambition of Mr Peter Obi to become the President of the country in the coming election.
She said she will resume back to her work as journalist or start her own business after Peter Obi has emerged.
She tweeted, “They said a journalist must be non-partisan (unbiased and fair). So I resigned my position with @SilverbirdTV to throw my full support on @PeterObi , after the elections next year, I’ll apply for a media job maybe with @channelstv or @ARISEtv or start up my business.”
Reacting to her tweet, some tweeps took to her comment section to share their views about her resignation.
A popular Twitter critic,@DanielRegha berated her for quitting her job to support Peter Obi, describing such a decision as “unwise”.
“Quitting ur well paying job to support Peter Obi or any other candidate, is an unwise decision; U are not smart cos these politicians may be a people’s person but they don’t care about u. Have u asked urself what happens if Peter Obi doesn’t win the presidential election? Think,” he tweeted.
Another one @Elimoney209 said “Hunger never hold you before na him make you feel say you fit leave job and what assures you that you can come back to the job you left few months ago?”
Other Twitter users, who seemed to be on the same page with the journalist, poured encomiums on her, describing her as a brave woman.
@Ade_loverman said, “I love your brevity, you’re the definition of bravery. This is what every person in your profession should do but they will be doing it underground to champion an evil course.”
Another Twitter user, @Ogbonaany1256, said, “You have written your name in gold and the OBIdients will never forget what what a dedicated woman like you is doing to get the country back. May you be blessed beyond measures. Beautiful, bold, enigmatic woman.”
