The gap-toothed actress was renowned as a lead actress in Fuji House of Commotion, a Nigerian sitcom produced and directed by Amaka Igwe. The show was a spin-off of the popular 90s soap opera “Checkmate”.
Confirming the death of Sola Awojobi Onayiga, a fellow of Theatre Arts and well-known movie critic on Twitter, Husseini Shaibu wrote,” Just learned that the accomplished stage and screen actress and a fellow of theatre arts Auntie Sola Awojobi Onayiga passed away. As part of ‘Checkmate’s crew, she is best known for cooking practicals live on TV in a hilarious way. Ma, take this journey well.”
She died at 3.45 am today July 18 after battling a yet-to-be-disclosed ailment.
