Insecurity: Our strategy is working — service chiefs

elections

Despite the widespread insecurity in the country, the service chiefs say their strategy is working.

They spoke after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

Abubakar Sadique, chief of air staff, told reporters that the meeting was “all about the security of Nigerians and Nigeria”.

He said the security forces would continue to work harder to ensure that every Nigerian is secure and that the territorial integrity of Nigeria is not undermined by anybody.

“What we are going to do is to ensure that all hands are on deck and every Nigerian equally has a role to play by passing relevant intelligence to us,” he said.

“So far, the strategy that we have on ground is really working and that is the one we will continue to pursue.’’

Other service chiefs at the meeting were Gabriel Olonisakin, chief of defence staff; Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff; and Ibok Ekwe-Ibas, chief of naval staff.

Babagana Monguno, national security adviser; Ahmed Abubakar, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA); Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police, and Yusuf Bichi, director general of Department for State Service (DSS).
