Retired England international, Gabriel Agbonlahor, has urged Chelsea to bolster their attack with the signing of Victor Osimhen despite the arrival of two attackers at the Stamford Bridge.

Recall Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku from Villarreal and RB Leipzig respectively joined the Blues in the summer transfer window.

The Aston Villa legend stressed that Chelsea will not get into the Champions League positions next season if they don’t sign a marquee center forward in the mould of Osimhen.

Chelsea had a below-par season in 2022-2023, finishing 12th in the Premier League table and accumulated 38 goals in the division over the course of the campaign.

Osimhen’s valuation could be a stumbling block to a deal as Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, values the man who won the Golden Boot with 26 Serie A goals last season at 200 million euros.

Although Agbonlahor admitted that Osimhen’s valuation is excessive, as he believes that the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner would improve the Chelsea squad.

“They still need a proper striker. I liked Romelu Lukaku when he was playing at Everton. It is what a lot of teams need right out in the league as well,” Agbonlahor who is of Nigerian descent told Football Insider.

“Victor Osimhen would be good, but I think they are talking around £170m for him, which is too much.

“But I do feel that Chelsea need more as every team is improving.

“Villa will be there next season, so will Brighton so it will be harder for Chelsea to break into the top four, and that’s the minimum for Chelsea with the amount of money they spent.”

Osimhen has mustered 97 goals combined for Sporting Charleroi, Lille and Napoli in 175 appearances, and has registered 17 goals for the Super Eagles in 26 games.
