Four Nigerian university students have been arrested by the police for allegedly beating a fellow student to death.
The students were arrested on Wednesday during school at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, in Moro local government area.
The incident occurred penultimate week at one of the private hostels situated outside the university premises.
According to reports, the students attacked the deceased student, whose identity remains unknown at this time, for allegedly recording them without their permission.
The victim was said to have been filming four students engaged in a discussion when one of them noticed his actions. Upon questioning, the victim was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation, prompting the four students to confront and subsequently assault him.
A student who pleaded for anonymity said, “The victim later succumbed to the severity of the beating inflicted on him by the students.”
When contacted, State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), confirmed the incident late Thursday night.
She stated, “The alleged culprits were four, but I cannot confirm their names at this time. They have been arrested, and an investigation is still ongoing.”
