Elon Musk, the CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter), has announced a significant update regarding premium features for account holders.
Musk, who acquired X in October 2022, revealed that accounts with 2500 or more verified subscriber followers will now receive X Premium features free of charge.
Additionally, accounts with over 5000 verified subscriber followers will be upgraded to X Premium+ at no cost.
This announcement was made via Musk’s official X handle on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
In his tweet, Musk stated, “Going forward, all X accounts with over 2500 verified subscriber followers will get Premium features for free and accounts with over 5000 will get Premium+ for free.”
X Premium subscription offers a range of benefits, including reduced advertisements, eligibility for revenue sharing, and access to additional features.
On the other hand, X Premium+ subscription provides exclusive perks such as an ad-free experience and priority reply privileges.
In addition to this update, Musk confirmed on Wednesday that the Grok AI chatbot, previously accessible only to X Premium+ users, will soon be available to all Premium users.
This move is seen as part of Musk’s strategy to encourage users to subscribe to nominal premium subscriptions, ultimately aiming to enhance revenue for the social media platform amidst growing competition, particularly with OpenAI.
