Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that his government had unanimously voted to shutter the Israeli offices of the Qatar-owned broadcaster Al Jazeera. Netanyahu revealed the decision on X, formerly Twitter.
Details about the timing and permanence of the closure were not immediately available.
The vote comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and the channel, exacerbated during the conflict with Hamas.
It also coincides with Qatar’s involvement in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza war.
