Nigeria’s Delta State governor, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, has condoled with his counterpart in Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri over the demise of supporters of Bayelsa Queens in an autocrash which occurred in Kwale, Delta State.
Four members of Bayelsa Queens’ supporters were confirmed dead and seven others injured following the road accident last weekend, urhobotoday reported.
“Indeed, their deaths have caused a dark cloud and great sorrow for their families and Bayelsa State.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I extend my heartfelt condolences to my brother Governor, Senator Douye Diri, the bereaved families and people of Bayelsa State on this sad incident.
“Their untimely deaths have undoubtedly caused great pain and sorrow to their families. I pray for quick healing to the injured and that such tragedy will never occur again.
“May God grant the families and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and may the souls of the departed rest in peace,” Oborevwori prayed according to Festus Ahon, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
Meanwhile, Oborevwori, on Monday visited the recuperating supporters of Bayelsa Queens at the Asaba Specialist Hospital.
He was received by the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Peace Ighosewe, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports, Mr Daniel Igali, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Honourable Johnson Erijo.
Oborevwori later in his remarks commiserated with the victims and expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s ability to handle their cases effectively.
