Graham Potter has finally been shown the door at Standford Bridge after a poor run at the club, succeeding Thomas Tuchel as the manager.
The news was confirmed in a statement issued by the club on Sunday evening.
The announcement is coming after the club lost 2-0 to Aston Villa, making their possibility of qualifying for any European competition next season dim.
Potter had led Chelsea to a number of notable achievements during his time at the club, including taking the club to the quarter-final of the Champions League.
However, it appears the time is ripe for Potter to move on, and so he has agreed to work with the club to ensure a smooth transition.
In the wake of Potter’s departure, the club has announced that Bruno Saltor will take over as interim head coach.
Saltor has been with the club for a number of years.
He will be tasked with leading the team for the remainder of the season, which includes 10 Premier League games, and the all-important Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
ln a statement issued by the club’s co-controlling owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, also voiced their support for Saltor and the rest of the team.
“We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person.
“He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity, and we are all disappointed in this outcome.
“However, we are fully committed to the rest of the season, and we will be putting every effort into every game to ensure that we end the season on a high,” the statement read.
