President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday swore Justice Kayode Ariwoola in as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) after the resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko on health grounds.
Buhari performed the ceremony in the Executive Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Justice Ariwoola became the presumptive lead justice of the Supreme Court, following the sudden resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad as CJN over health reasons.
Ariwoola takes the Judiciary oath as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and he swore to be faithful and bear true allegiance to FG and defended the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Buhari conferred the second highest national honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on the former CJN, Muhammad Tanko during the ceremony.
