An aircraft, transporting Malawi’s vice president Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others, has been reported missing, according to Malawi’s presidency on Monday.
“Despite all efforts by aviation authorities, there has been no contact with the aircraft since it disappeared from radar,” stated Malawi’s office of the president and cabinet.
Chilima, aged 51, was aboard a Malawi Defence Force aircraft that departed from the capital Lilongwe at 09:17 local time (07:17 GMT), the statement mentioned while search and rescue operations continue.
