Dani Alves, a former Barcelona defender, risks up to 12 years in prison, for allegedly committing s*xual assault.

Alves’ trial will reportedly be held in the coming months between October and November, while he remains in custody at Brians 2.

He was said to have assaulted a 23-year-old woman in a Spanish night club, and has been in custody since January 20.

It was gathered that though Alves denied the assault allegations levelled against him, his requests to be granted bail had been rejected.

According to reports, Alves could face up to 12 years in prison if found guilty.

Findings also revealed that the High Court in Barcelona turned down a recent appeal by Alves to be released from detention.

There are concerns from official source that Alves might flee the country, perhaps to Brazil his home country, which does not support extradition of its citizens.
