At least 10 people, including a patient on an IV drip, were abducted during a fresh attack by bandits on Matusgi village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

Sources reported that the heavily armed attackers stormed the village around 2 a.m. on Friday, firing shots indiscriminately to instill fear in the residents.

Among those kidnapped was a patient undergoing medical treatment who was taken while still connected to an IV drip, leaving the community in shock and fear.

While some locals claimed that up to 30 people were abducted, the police have confirmed the number at 10. One anonymous resident shared, “They didn’t kill anyone, only shot to scare us.

They took about 30 people, including a woman and a sick man. We are all scared and still don’t know where they are.”

The motives behind the abductions remain unclear, though authorities suspect ransom demands might be a factor.

Zamfara State Police Command spokesman, Yezid Abubakar, confirmed the incident, stating, “The attack is true. The bandits invaded the village around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, kidnapping 10 people. The police are making significant efforts to rescue them unharmed.”

This attack follows a previous terrorist assault in May on five villages in Zamfara’s Anka Local Government Area, which resulted in the deaths of at least 49 people.
