Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed 13 persons on their farms at the Ijuwa fringes of the Alawa community of the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The LGA Chairman, Akilu Isyaku, who confirmed the killing in Minna on Wednesday, said the bandits shot nine of the victims to death while four others were killed at a different location the same day.

A resident who spoke to newsmen said the bandits targeted the community over allegations that members supplied intelligence to security agencies on bandits’ movements.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Acting Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba has condemned the attack by armed bandits on Anguwan Mai-Giro community, in Rafi and Shiroro local government area of the state.

The Acting Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the attack as satanic, insensible, atrocious and callous.

According to him, “it is very disheartening and disturbing for fellow humans to carry out such a barbaric and vicious act on their fellow humans”.

Garba commiserated with the affected families, community members and the entire people of Shiroro local government area over the unfortunate incident.

He prayed Allah to repose the souls of the departed, comfort their loved ones and grant quick healing to those injured.

The acting governor reiterated the unwavering determination and commitment of the Bago-led administration to tame the tide of insecurity in the state.

He encouraged the security agencies in the state not to be discouraged by the attacks on communities by the men of the underworld, while assuring them of every support that would lead them to victory over evil.
