Five National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have died in an auto accident while travelling to Calabar, the Cross Rivers State capital.
The Cross Rivers State Coordinator of the NYSC, Andrew Zemoh, confirmed the accident.
According to Zemoh, the deceased corps members were heading to Calabar for their primary assignment when the incident happened.
He disclosed that the accident occurred on Sunday in Enugu, adding that the parents of the deceased had evacuated their bodies.
He offered condolences to the families of the deceased corps members, adding that a decision on their burial would be made known later.
Although Zemoh did not mention the identities of the deceased and full details of the accident, feelers revealed that the vehicle conveying the victims veered off the road on motion and plunged into a river, drowning the corps members.
