Six people have been confirmed dead with 15 others injured in an auto crash at Sekona on Ogbomoso-Odo-Oba road in Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria.
The auto crash which happened on Sunday evening involved a commercial bus and a trailer.
Impeccable sources confirmed that the casualties were males and that their bodies had been deposited at the Ladoke Akintola Hospital morgue.
The sources also confirmed that those injured in the accident had been taken to Bowen University Teaching Hospital for medical observation.
Findings revealed that the 21-passenger commercial bus and the trailer were heading to the northern part of Nigeria when the crash occurred.
An eyewitness said: “The accident occurred on Sunday evening. The driver of the bus was trying to overtake the trailer at that sharp corner, and suddenly he lost control and hit the trailer. All of a sudden, the bus veered off the road and somersaulted almost five times. And five people died immediately, others were quickly rushed to the hospital by the road safety officials.”
The Ogbomoso Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Isaac Adebayo, has confirmed the incident.
According to him, “The incident happened Sunday evening around 17:00 hrs.
Confirming the casualties in the auto crash, Adebayo said: “Five died immediately. My people have gone there this morning. I have just confirmed from them that another person died at the hospital, making the casualties six altogether.”
