Amazon’s online shopping platform debuted in South Africa, marking a significant challenge to existing e-commerce giants like Naspers’ Takealot.com.
With South Africa’s burgeoning online shopping market, the move underscores Amazon’s strategic expansion into the continent.
This launch coincides with a surge in e-commerce activity spurred by the pandemic, prompting increased investments from retailers.
Offering features like same-day and next-day delivery, along with a network of over 3,000 pickup points, Amazon.co.za aims to establish a strong foothold in the South African market.
Additionally, customers will enjoy free delivery on initial orders and subsequent orders above 500 rand ($27.07).
