More players on Monday arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Abuja ahead of Friday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau.
The new arrivals include former Chelsea central defender, Kenneth Omeruo.
Having spent more than a month on the sidelines due to injury, Omeruo managed to prove that his injury troubles are over in time to be considered for the 23-man roster against Guinea Bissau.
The Leganes defender has only logged 123 minutes in LaLiga 2 from a possible 990 this year.
In the fight for a starting position against Guinea-Bissau, Omeruo has to see off competition from Kevin Akpoguma, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey and the rookie Daniel Bameyi, who have all landed in Abuja with the exception of the Ajax Amsterdam player.
Goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Kingsley Aniagboso, Premier League quartet Keelchi Iheanacho, Joe Aribo, Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi, and Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman are also in camp, bringing the players at the disposal of manager Jose Peseiro to 11 at the time of this report.
Apart from Bassey, Victor Sochima, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Zaidu Sanusi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Frank Onyeka, Ahmed Musa, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Terem Moffi, Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu were still being expected.
