Adebayo Lawal Approved As New Oyo State Deputy Governor

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Monday the 18th of July approved the appointment of Adebayo Lawal as the new Deputy Governor following the impeachment of Rauf Olaniyan who was impeached today.

Mr Lawal was nominated by Governor Seyi Makinde as a replacement for Mr Olaniyan, and his nomination was approved immediately after the impeachment processes were completed.

Mr Lawal is the Chairman of the State Housing Corporation and served as the state Attorney-General. He hails from Kisi in Irepo Local Government area.

Defending the nomination of Mr Lawal, the House Majority Leader, Sanjo Adedoyin, said that the nomination should be considered, approved and adopted in view of his antecedents in contributing to the progress of the state.

Seconding the motion, Kazeem Olayanju, representing Irepo/Olornsogo State Constituency, said that the House should confirm Mr Lawal as the new deputy governor.
