TRANSPORT UNIVERSITY IN DAURA – WHY?

Agoro, Buhari

“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” was a question once asked by a discerning mind Nathaniel and which commanded a bold “Come and see” reply by Phillip. John 1vs 46

1.      Daura was little known until Fulani holy  of 1805 when Malam Ishaku a Fulani warrior lay a successful siege on it and established an emirate headquarters in Daura about which period rival Hausa Kingdoms were established at nearby Daube – Zango and also at Daure – Baure.

Daura the trading in exportable commodities like sorghum, millet, onions, peanuts, cotton, hides and skins   no doubt opened her up to the British interest prompting installation of  Zango the King and Malam Musa, as the new emir of Daura.

The opening of  Daura to British trading opportunities on doubt brought in opening to  educational and other benefits.

Daura town is a local government area in Katsina State and home to Hausa people and an emirate referred to as one of the “7 true Hausa states” because it was ruled by descendants of Bayajidda’s sons with Daurama and Magira.

Among prominent Nigerians that  benefitted immensely from the name Daura and who brought the name to early fame and prominence is no doubt one Alhaji Mamman Daura, Journalist; who inspired industrial growth in the north, in furniture making; textile manufacturing; aluminum smelting and who played visionary role in the banking sector, management of companies and development of institutions etal

The distinguished gentleman of immeasurable honour who obviously convinced all of the fact that GOOD SUCCESS is obtainable only from a well-placed strong structural layout

This convincingly proving that something good can come from Daura justifying naming a University of Transport after it.
