Lagos agog as Afrobeat star Davido weds his lover Chioma

Afrobeat superstar and Grammy-nominee, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, and his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland also known as Chefchi, have tied the knot.

The lovebirds held their traditional star-studded wedding and church ceremony dubbed “CHIVIDO2024”, in Lagos on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of notable figures in the country ranging from business to politics and entertainment spaces.

Former Nigeria President Olusegun Obasanjo; Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun; Osun State governor who doubles as groom’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi are among dignitaries that attended the event.

Davido, dressed in Yoruba traditional attire and another look, he was seen rocking an Igbo traditional attire and posed in the colourful photos with his fiancée, Chioma.

In a recent interview, the singer opened up about his relationship with Chioma, revealing that he had known her before his rise to fame and fortune.

Reflecting on this, Davido expressed gratitude for meeting her during that period, emphasizing that it would have been challenging for him to enter relationships now as he would feel every woman wants him for his money or status.

Davido revealed the significance of authenticity in his circle, noting that success for him lies not just in personal achievements but in the continued presence of those who stood by him during his humble beginnings.

The couple, who lost their son Ifeanyi in a tragic accident in 2022, welcomed their twins in the United States in October 2023.
