At least 70 individuals, including 31 security personnel, lost their lives in 77 militant attacks throughout Pakistan in April, as reported by an Islamabad-based think tank, the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies.
Additionally, 67 civilians and security personnel sustained injuries in these incidents.
The northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province witnessed the highest number of attacks, accounting for 73% of the total, followed by Balochistan with 16 attacks, Punjab with four, and Sindh province with one attack.
The report also noted that the country’s security forces conducted operations against militants, resulting in the deaths of at least 55 suspected terrorists and the arrest of 12 others.
Over the last four months, Pakistan has endured a total of 323 militant attacks, resulting in the deaths of 324 individuals and injuring 387 others.
In a separate incident on Friday, three individuals, including a local journalist and the president of the Khuzdar Press Club, Mohammad Siddiq Mengal, were killed in a remote-controlled blast targeting Mengal’s car in southwestern Balochistan province.
The attack also left eight others injured. These events reflect a surge in terror activity since the Taliban regained power in Kabul in August 2021.
Islamabad has accused Kabul of insufficient action against “Afghanistan-based” militants involved in attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians, although Afghanistan denies these allegations.
