The Kenyan government has unveiled plans to initiate daily flights to Nigeria as part of its visa-free entry policy introduced last year, aimed at enhancing Kenya’s global connectivity.
Samuel Mogere, the acting Kenya High Commissioner to Nigeria, emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering African unity and facilitating easy travel for Nigerians to Kenya. He highlighted that Kenya Airways will soon begin daily flights to Nigeria as part of this initiative, as revealed during the Magical Kenya Roadshow in Abuja.
Mogere also mentioned the Kenya Roadmap 2024, which aligns with the presidential agenda to unite Africa. Under the visa-free entry policy, travellers can easily obtain authorisation to visit Kenya, streamlining the visa application process through an online e-visa platform.
Additionally, Alex Tunoi, the Marketing Manager of the Kenya Tourism Board, emphasised the roadshow as a diversification strategy to attract more African tourists, reinforcing Africa’s significance in Kenya’s tourism sector.
Steve Biko, the Regional Sales Manager of Sarova Hotels and Resorts in Kenya, highlighted Nigeria’s significance as a crucial market for Kenya due to its large population and consistent flow of travelers.
Currently, Kenya Airways operates four weekly flights between its main hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja.
This strategic air route underscores the growing connectivity between Kenya and Nigeria, facilitating travel and promoting business and tourism opportunities between the two countries.
