The Idiroko Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Akinwunmi Olaluwoye, has said most of the crashes leading to loss of lives are caused by over speeding, reckless driving and burst trees, among others.
The Unit Commander of the FRSC made this known on Tuesday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Ota, Ogun State, ahead of the Easter holidays.
Olaluwoye noted the need to enforce traffic rules and regulations as a means of reducing road crashes to the barest minimum.
“The FRSC personnel are fully ready for Easter patrol, as any erring motorist without valid driver’s licence, and with bad tyres will be apprehended and sanctioned according to the law.
“We are therefore appealing to motorists to drive safely with valued driver’s licence and ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before putting them on the road,” Olaluwoye said.
He warned motorists against excessive speeding and dangerous driving as well as the use of intoxicating substances that could negatively affect their sense of reasoning.
The Unit Commander called on motorists to cooperate with their personnel to ensure sanity on the roads during the Easter holidays.
