The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) announced a two-day protest on the 26th and 27th of July to protest the ongoing six-month shutdown of all tertiary educational institutions in the country.
The National Labor Congress has made this known today after it promised to engage all unions under its umbrella body to protest. Tertiary institutions in the country have been on strike since February 14 2022 for pay disagreements between the government and lecturers. Members of the non-academic staff unions joined the lecturers in the strike.
Reuters reports that the union is joining with oil and gas unions in the country to press their demand for better governance and an end to the strike, which keeps the majority of youths at home and prevents tertiary education from functioning.
