A 44-year-old Nigerian national has been apprehended by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) in India for the possession of an astonishing 16 kilograms of MDMA and 500 grams of cocaine.
This substantial drug seizure, valued at $2.8 million, stands out as one of the most significant confiscations of narcotics in the city.
The suspect, living in Bengaluru on a business visa for a year, has rented a residence in Ramamurthynagar.
Investigations suggest his involvement in a more extensive drug network spanning neighbouring states in the country.
As per information from police sources, the illegal substances were skillfully hidden in parcels, cleverly disguised within chocolate boxes, soap covers, bedsheets, and clothing.
The unnamed Nigerian individual is suspected by the police of accumulating a substantial quantity of drugs in anticipation of New Year parties in the city.
To strengthen their efforts, law enforcement has taken action against the landlord for failing to report the tenant.
It’s noteworthy that the Bengaluru police recently introduced a mobile app to facilitate PG owners, lodge owners, and landlords in voluntarily uploading details about their tenants and guests as part of an enhanced monitoring initiative.
