Barely 2 days before the start of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, a factional leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa on Friday arrested in Finland.
Ekpu was arrested few hours after declaring a 10-day sit-at-home order in South East, Nigeria.
It was gathered the Keskusrikospoliisi (KRP), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Finland had a police operation in a private apartment in the centre of Lahti where Ekpa was seen in a now-viral photo being whisked away.
Criminal Investigator, Tommi Reen from the Central Criminal Police also confirmed the development.
According to him, the operation was connected to an ongoing preliminary investigation. He did not comment further on the matter.
